On Hitz Boxing’s Fight Night at the Horseshoe in Hammond, IN on Saturday evening, New York’s Bertha “The Cuban Princess” Aracil (3-0, 2 KOs) needed a bit to shake off some rust to out-punch the young and rugged “Savage” Sarah French (0-1) .
Aracil made her ring return with immediate impact with the opening exchange – a 1-2 combination – bloodying up French’s nose.
From the opening bell, Aracil kept the pressure on French in a southpaw stance, controlling the ring and pace of action.
Both women took some time to get acclimated to the ring before bombs really started flying starting in the 2nd Round.
Aracil stalked her pray around the ring, finding her moment to jab and unload on the head and body of French. Her constant two punch combinations kept accumulating the points, while mixing in experience-based uppercuts and hooks.
French’s Tyson-like defense and movement made Aracil have to be extremely strategic in her attacks. “Savage” proved that she is a pitbull, with a ton of heart and a very tough exterior since she did not stop for the full 8 minutes of action, strutting her tough defense stance while easing into the professional atmosphere with some pounding rights.
In the end, experience prevailed. The official scores read 40-36, 39-37, 39-37 for the visiting Aracil as the crowd stood and cheered for both women.
French, gracious in her debut bout and unfortunate defeat, kept her smile and kept her go-getter enthusiasm.
