From Sauerland Promotions:

Svensson and Brækhus ready for Scandinavian super fight

Fight week for the Scandinavian super fight between Klara Svensson (17-1, 5 KOs) and Cecilia Brækhus (29-0, 8 KOs) kicked off today in Stockholm with the first of two press conferences prior to their WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO & IBO Female World Welterweight Championship clash on Friday night in Oslo.

Both fighters appeared in a confident mood with Svensson reiterating her belief
that the time is right for her to take the titles from the current pound-for-pound queen, and Brækhus predicting a knockout victory to claim her thirtieth pro win.

“I’m relaxed and looking forward to Friday,” said Svensson. “My training has gone well and I’m in top shape. Cecilia has been a great champion but I’ll have no respect for her in the ring. The time is right and I’m ready to take her titles.”

“I think it will be fun match, but Sweden will not have a new World Champion on Saturday,” said Brækhus. “I feel very confident. I’ve gained new strength and power since working with Jonathan Banks. I don’t think the fight will go the distance. Klara moves a lot, but I just need to land once and she will go down.”

Svensson’s coach Joey Gamache said he has identified weaknesses in Brækhus’ game following her recent switch of trainers. “I’ve seen a few things in Cecilia’s last coupe of fights that have given us a lot of confidence. She is getting hit a lot more, her chin is up and her hands are down, and we’re ready to exploit that!”

Brækhus’ coach Jonathan Banks insists there has been stone left unturned ahead of his fighter’s World title defence. “We’ve prepared meticulously for this fight. We know we can’t afford to give away an inch or you can expect them to take a mile. We’re in good place and Cecilia is ready to defend her titles.”

Said promoter Nisse Sauerland: said: “This is going to be a great fight. We know Cecilia well, we worked with her for many years and we know what she’s about. She’s the current pound-for-pound number one, but she’s faces a younger, hungrier fighter in Klara. I believe we will see a new champion on Friday night.”
