After hearing rumors of this, Salita Promotions has made it official…
WBC and WBO Middleweight Champion, Christina Hammer (of Germany), will make her US debut on the same card as her future and destined opponent, WBC and IBF Super Middleweight Champion Claressa Shields of Michigan.
Immediately after Shields defeated Nikki Adler for the WBC and vacant IBF Titles in August, she was met face to face – in the ring – live on ShoBox: The New Generation – with Hammer in a sure promo for an near future matchup.
We are not quite there, but an assumed setup night of action is now booked with Shields (4-0, 2 KOs) facing former WBC Champ Tori Nelson (17-0-3, 2 KOs) of Virginia and Hammer (22-0, 10 KOs) to face an opponent to be named soon. The show will be held at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, NY and #WomenofBoxing will be there live!
“Lady” Hammer is fresh off of an early November crushing of Gifty Amanua Ankrah (7-5-1, 5 KOs) of Ghana to successfully defend her WBC and WBO titles in Munich.
Shields and Hammer have had choice words for each other for some time now. It is already heating up before this announcement. It is sure to have some serious buzz going making for some Season’s Beatings and a true Ringing in of the New Year on January 12th!
