From WBC:

LUPITA BRAWLS AND MAULS IRMA

Relentless Guadalupe “Lupita” Martinez, retained her World Boxing Council Super flyweight female  Championship defeating challenger Irma “Torbellino” Garcia by UD, at the Convention Center of Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico.

The event was  presented by Promociones Zanfer in a Box Azteca 7 telecast for Mexico. The scores of the judges were 99-91, 97-93 and 98-92 all in favor of Martinez.

The non stop aggressiveness of Lupita (17-9, 6 KO`S) proved key from the start with cascades of combinations, directed towards southpaw Irma (18-3-1, 3 kos), who`s long right jab was not sufficiently or correctively powerful enough, to stem the oncoming, surging tide.

As expected, Irma who`s an accomplished stylist, adopted an artful  policy of hit and run, with Lupita charging after her.  By the end of round one a nasty cut had opened up to the side of Irma`s right eye. The bleeding from it continued throughout the fight, weeping down her smooth oval face in a scarlet trickle. The taller Irma tried to pick her punches, but was getting roughed up in the clinches. As the fight wore on Lupita,  who was advancing with gloves cupped up tight to her face,  was speared with some stinging counter lefts, but these rapier like impacts were negated by a series of bludgeoning wallops. The two stood toe to toe for the final two minutes delivering their full arsenals, bringing Lupita`s local crowd to its feet, cheering her home.

They sportingly embraced, and after her victory was announced Lupita donned a gaudy fuchsia WBC shirt, exclaiming:  “Today in my mind was solely focused upon Irma García. I know that there are many who want my precious championship green and gold belt. I thank my Team for the support. Now it`s  time to rest!  I just hope that my company will tell me the name of the next rival and that it will be the upcoming  goal. I`m very happy and open to whoever they put in front of me!”
