From Rankin’s Instagram, with Christina Hammer

Set to face 24 fight veteran Klaudia Vigh from Hungary, Scotland’s Hannah Rankin (3-1) will be a showcase in front of family and friends in her home country on Saturday at the Crown Plaza in Glasgow. This bout will mark the first ever female match on an MTK show.

Rankin has high hopes for her career, while also holding a career as a classical musician, playing in orchestras and teaching teaching kids the art of music.

Her debut came in May of last year, a Points win over Ester Konecna in Great Britain.

Within seven weeks between September and November, the 27 year old went full throttle into her pugilist career – fighting 3 times for 18 total rounds of action. Those matches included an October slot on Cecilia Brækhus’ First Lady Promotions self promoted championship showdown with Mikaela Lauren but the match did not have the likened result for Rankin, a 4-Round Split Decision defeat. Not to be deterred, Rankin bounced back and won a decisive 8-round bout over Ester Konecna to claim the BPA International Classic Challenge Championship belt in only only three weeks later. Not a bad way to finish 2017.

Fast forward to the new year and it is now Fightweek and Rankin is ready to shine.

How was Camp?
This camp has been really good. I sparred with Christina Hammer just before Christmas as part of her training camp for her US debut.

I’ve also been sparring with Elena Narozanski, Cherrelle Brown and Sandy Ryan in the lead up.

What is your motivation behind this upcoming match?
I’m excited to be finally fighting at home in Scotland for the first time and this has been a big motivation for this fight.

What shall we see on fight night from Team Rankin?
I’m looking to put on a good show in my home town. The team have been working on some new things this camp so I will be looking to try these out on fight night against Klaudia Vigh.

Where does the champ see herself in 1 year?
This year I’m looking to aim toward a commonwealth or European title.

How about in 3 years?
In three years I would like to be looking toward a world title all going well!
