Jessica Gonzalez Requests WBC Rematch with Yazmin Rivas After Split Decision in August

Jessica “Magnifica” Gonzalez is requesting that the World Boxing Council grants her a direct rematch with Yazmin “Rusita” Rivas.

Rusita won a split decision against Jessica for the vacant female WBC super bantamweight title last month up North in Gomez Palacio, Durango. Jessica had won a split decision against her three years ago for the female WBC international bantamweight title.

Still smarting from this latest result and resulting setback, Jessica came to the weekly press conference of the World Boxing, to put her case. She said:

“I feel sad, angry and disillusioned. A lot of people in boxing are convinced I won this one. I’m asking for a direct rematch.”

WBC female interim bantamweight champion Irma Garcia who successfully defended her crown at the weekend, collecting the hint of a shiner, was also at the presser. Jessica expressed an interest in fighting her. However “Torbellino’s” focus is beamed on the absolute championship held by Zambia’s Catherine Phiri.
