With both combatants entering the Hitz Boxing ring on Saturday for their debut professional bouts, it was destined to be special at Fight Night at the Horseshoe – held at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond IN.

Three time Golden Gloves champion and local Jessica McCaskill faced off with Lansing, MI’s MMA  athlete turned boxer Tyrea Nichole Duncan in a tussle of Lightweights.

McCaskill took the attack right to the taller Duncan straight from the opening bell with debilitating combinations. Duncan seemed like a deer caught in the headlights as the attacks mounted. With a huge left hook, Duncan was sent to the canvas as the first round ended.

Noticeably flinching and turning away from the vicious attacks, Duncan continued into the second round.

McCaskill increased the “Killa” mode coming straight out of her blue corner at the start of the second round, landed at a great percentage. Another killer left hook dropped Duncan again a minute into the stanza. At 1:27 of the round, the referee halted the action after a fierce combination ending in devastating uppercut put Duncan down in her own corner.

Duncan held no competitive nature to McCaskill.

Beyond the contrary, McCaskill demonstrated the tactical and technical skills that are rare in the female game. The base is there for a prosperous future for McCaskill.
