For the second time in the last two years, prominent Pound for Pound ranked fixture, Super Lightweight Layla McCarter (40-13-5), has traveled down to Mexico to work. Friday, McCarter stayed perfect south of the border with a Unanimous Decision victory over up and coming Lightweight Erika Hernandez (6-2-1).

Official Scores: 79-73, 78-76, 79-77

McCarter has already been named the manadatory opponent for P4P #1 Cecilia Brækhus by the IBF. WBC should follow suit, if they want the best matchups available while prompting the unified Welterweight champ to face the 38 year old future Hall of Famer instead of talking more about facing Cris “Cyborg”.

When is Mayweather Promotions going to get more active in bringing this potential matchup to fruition? The money based promotional entity is already investing in women’s boxing with the signing of McCarter, undefeated Middleweight Latondria Jones (5-0, 2 KOs), UK’s newly pro Super Middleweight “Silent Assassin” Savannah Marshall (1-0). When are they going to truly showcase the talent and put onto the main stage, especially when the opportunity with the First Lady is pretty much in the palm of their hand?
