Ibeth “Roca” Zamora and Yessica “Kika” Chavez have fought twice before in 2008 and 2014, with Roca winning both.

Now as WBC light flyweight Champion, fresh from a sixth defence of her Crown, with the 6th round TKO of Japan’s Mari Ando, Roca is keen to go up a divison and fight “Kika” who’s WBC flyweight champion. Roca, who looked remarkably untouched and unmarked by the flaring firestorm she won, said she’d like to fight Kika this year, but it’s not yet likely to be overnight.

When asked about the purse, she said a million would be appropriate. When a reporter at the WBC weekly press conference led with his mouth, being naive enough to ask her if that should be a million in Pesos or US dollars, Roca countered, calculating lightening faster than the plummeting Exchange rate, that she would be inordinately happier with dollars…thank you very much!
