From WBF:

Lefebvre Is Majestic, Stops Da Silva Duarte For WBF World Title
By Clive Baum

New World Boxing Federation (WBF) Womens World Super Bantamweight Champion Segolene Lefebvre lands on Simone Da Silva Duarte

Segolene “Majestic” Lefebvre put on a very impressive performance on Friday night, March 10, when she captured the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Womens World Super Bantamweight title in front of a near sell-out crowd of 1400 fans at the Salle Gayant in Douai, France.

Fighting a game challenger in Simone Da Silva Duarte from Brazil, Lefebvre, who had won the WBF Intercontinental title last November, was very poised throughout. Da Silva Duarte had her moments, and especially did enough in rounds four and eight to edge those stanzas with good combinations.

But in round nine Lefebvre definitively got the upper hand, as Da Silva Duarte tired massively. Landing some hard hooks and uppercuts, the home-girl forced the visitor to bend down without defending herself, and referee Alexander Plumanns did the only right thing and waved the fight off.

Lefebvre improved her professional record to 7-0 (1), and at only 23 puts herself in a fine group of French female WBF world champions that over the years have included the likes of Anne Sophie Mathis, Myriam Lamare and Nadia Hokmi, and currently Anne Sophie Da Costa, Myriam Dellall and Leatitia Arzalier.

Having boxed at world class level almost her entire career, former South American champion Simone Da Silva Duarte (33), from Sao Paolo, drops to 15-11 (6), with eight of her losses amazingly coming in fights for world championships.

Promoter was Douai Boxing Club.
