In Shabazz Brotherz showcase at Martin’s West in Woodlawn, Maryland on Friday night, UBF Super Flyweight champion Tyrieshia “Lady Tiga” Douglas (13-1-1, 6 KOs) of Baltimore, MD put her belt on the line against “The Iron Lady” Helen Joseph (15-3-2, 10 KOs) of New Haven, CT.

The championship bout carried much pomp and circumstance as both Douglas and Joseph made their way to the ring with in such embellished manners.

Once the bell rang, it was all business.

Joseph came out with combative advancement, pushing Douglas onto her backfoot while laying on with the iron.

Joseph showed her range, with head-movement to slip and dodge while attacking up and down stairs.

the Southpaw Douglas appeared to have difficulties with balance against the heavy-handed Joseph.

A tangle of feet by both women on an exchange ended with Joseph touching canvas midway into the 2nd Round. Ruled a slip, that fired up both combatants.

Joseph continued the aggression, pressing Douglas backwards and hindering her explosive hand speed a bit.

Douglas’ defense kept the bout tight as she maneuvered around the attacking Joseph, popping in with scoring punches and combinations.

Official Scores: 98-92 for Joseph, 95-95, 95-95 resulting in a Majority Draw.

While the bout was close, the “Iron Lady” did seem to have the edge.
