From WBC:

SVELTE MOVE BY MIKAELA

By Malte Muller-Michaelis

svennnson-lauren-bannerWBC Women’s World Super welterweight Champion Mikaela Lauren is alighting in the Welterweight division, to fight Klara Svensson for the interim World Championship on September 10th in Stockholm.

The winner of Lauren vs. Svensson will progress to fight the winner of the title bout between Unified World Welterweight Champion Cecilia Braekhus and former Superlightweight Champ Anne Sophie Mathis from France which takes place on October 1st in Oslo, Norway.

Because she is changing divisions, Mikaela will not be able to defend her World Super welterweight Championship for the next months. Therefore, the Women’s Championship Committee decided to declare her “Champion Emeritus” in that division. In this way, we can keep the division active and Mikaela can decide to return to Super welterweight anytime, to challenge for the World title.

Mikaela Lauren won the vacant title in November 2014 by majority decision against Aleksandra Magdziak Lopes. She successfully defended it three times with impressive TKO victories over Victoria Cisneros, Jennifer Retzke and Ivana Habazin.

As World Super welterweight Champion Mikaela followed all-time greats Mia St. John, Christy Martin and Jisselle Salandy. We are very proud of her achievements and wish her all the very best for her upcoming Welterweight fights.
