World Champion Contenders want Claressa Shields Next

Brazilian born New Zealander Geovana Peres will be taking on New Zealand boxer Lani Daniels, for the vacant WBO World Women’s Light Heavyweight title in Auckland, NZ on March 30th. However both boxers have a bigger target in the future.

Both boxers has said their career goal is to beat multiple division world champion Claressa Shields. Both boxers are multiple New Zealand Champions and ranked in the top 10 in the world. Peres and Daniels have fought each other before in early 2018, however Geovana Peres won the first bout by Split Decision. This rematch between the two will be the fight of the year in New Zealand with much bigger reward. This time the fight will be for a World title.

Claressa Shields in case you been living under a rock is the hottest topic currently in Women’s division. She is a two time Olympic gold medalist, Two time Amateur Boxing World champion, IBF & WBC Super Middleweight World Champion and IBF, WBC & WBA World Middleweight Champion. Shields main goal is to unify the Middleweight division and to beat Christina Hammer.

Both Geovana Peres and Lani Daniels have said in an interview that if they win the title, the would drop down in weight and target Claressa Shields. Lani Daniels trainer John Conway who thought the fight between the boxers was a controversial decision has said to Gladrap channel “My long term goal is Claressa Shields in America and that’s a two year three year plan.” Daniels is ranked 9th in Boxrec and 10th in the WBA.

Geovana Peres team said they don’t look pass this their fight with Lani Daniels, however the ultimate goal is to take on Claressa Shields. Geovana Peres is currently ranked 1st in WBA, 4th in Boxrec and is the favourite to win the contest between the two.

Claressa Shields was approached for comment on the two boxers wanting to take her on in the future, however Shields was not available at time of this release.

Geovana Peres (6 – 1 – 0) vs Lani Daniels (4 – 1 – 0) for the vacant WBO Women’s World Light Heavyweight title. It will be held in Auckland, NZ on March 30th. The event is promoted by Bruce Glozier of Glozier Boxing. Currently the promoter is in negotiations with multiple networks to have the event televised. The undercard is yet to be confirmed however its been rumoured that Hemi Ahio, Jonathan Taylor, Panuve Helu and Andrei Mikhailovich would be on the undercard.
