World Boxing Council female lightweight champion Delfine Persoon, 33, of Belgium, will defend her belt for the ninth time against tough and intrepid Melissa St. Vil, on the 9th. March in Kortrijk, Belgium.

Both fighters were at a press conference where they showed mutual respect, but also reportedly good and ready to offer a veritable war up in the ring.

Melissa is a former WBC silver world champion. She has 11 victories, including one by KO, and 3 losses. She lost last April 6 against Eva Wahlstrom of Finland,contesting for the WBC super feather belt.

Persoon, who has suffered only one loss in 43 fights and has 17 knockouts, comes from retaining her lightweight title, on December 8th, beating Kenyan Judy Waguthii by TKO in the tenth round.
