Another Title called something else?

Champions win and lose titles in the ring, but apparently special rules have been given to certain individuals!

Christina Hammer has been called the “Champion in Recess” by the WBC. I know, what exactly does that mean?

Well she never lost her belt in the ring, it was vacated due to illness. Claressa Shields fought for the vacant title against Hanna Rankin and won it. Apparently she wasn’t aware that she would have to be a partial owner.

Let go about it this way, so Keith Thurman gets stripped of his WBC belt due to injury , Shawn Porter fights Danny Garcia for it and wins, why hasn’t the WBC called Thurman the champion in recess? Makes you wonder doesn’t it!
