Triple Crown for Shields
Claressa Shields yet again makes history in women’s boxing, defeating Croatia’s Ivana Habazin by unanimous decision in 10 rounds, to conquer the vacant World Boxing Council super welterweight title at Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Shields sent Habazin to the canvass for the first time in her career, when Ivana was obliged to go down on one knee in the sixth round.
The Judges’ scores were 99-89, 100-90 and 100-89 all in favor of Shields, who became a the three-time world champion, just in her tenth fight as pro boxer!
Shields beat Habazin (20-4, 7 KOs) with ease over 10 rounds, obtaining a unanimous decision in his 154-pound title fight. The “Block of Flint” has now won world titles at 168, 160 and 154 pounds divisions.
Shields (10-0, 2 KOs), 24, twice Olympic gold medalist, won the vacant WBC and WBO titles in her first fight within the 154-pound division, to become the faster boxer conquering three world titles in three different different divisions.
