Fany transforms tin into gold for Teleton

Wunderkind young amateur boxer Fany “La Nina de Oro” Martinez is aiming to achieve a wonderful feat, by raising fifteen thousand pesos this Sunday, for the charity Teleton, which helps children and young people with disabilities.

From 11am onwards on Sunday, at Ring Central in Mexico City, Fany aged just twelve, has taken it upon herself to hold and direct a special boxing clinic. In spite of her tender years and baby face, Fany is already the veteran of more than 60 amateur fights with almost as many victories. During Mission Teleton, Fany will be accompanied by her Boxing Godmothers and greats Esmeralda Moreno and Irma Garcia.

At the Martes a Café weekly WBC Presser, the World Boxing Council pledged five thousand pesos to Fany for Teleton. But then her Team passed the tin and generous reporters dug deep into their wallets to cram it with notes. Boxing legend Ruben “Puas” Olivares who was sitting beside Fany donated and signed a boxing glove. Mexico`s finest boxers will attend this Sunday and each of them will sign the green glove, which will then be auctioned to add to Fany`s fund.
