#WomenofBoxing has teamed up with BeautifulFighter.com with their campaign Face The Fight & WIN National Tour.

From now until October, 2020, the tour will be visiting local Ronald McDonald Houses in all 50 states, to meet and provide supportive hope to children and their families with life’s battles.

Mission of Face the Fight & WIN Tour: “To empower, inspire and give hope to children and their families who are ‘Facing the Fight’ of their lives,” said Delilah Matos, owner of Beautiful Fighter. “Ronald McDonald House Charities was selected to bring a nationwide renewed awareness of their outstanding support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families.”

“Our country harnesses some of the most inspiring athletes and mentors. My vision for this nationwide tour is to connect these athletes to their local Ronald McDonald Houses,” explained Matos. “The athletes will have the opportunity to share their stories of how they Face their Fight and WIN, as some of them also prepare for the 2020 Games.”

Stop #1 was this week, Monday in Chicago.

Shelly Barnett with her trainer Ewan Jackson at Ronald McDonald House in Chicago

#WomenofBoxing was represented by myself, Managing Editor, and National Champion of Canada, Shelly Barnett – Bantamweight, now residing in Evanston, IL.

Having won her championship belt in May and a deep appreciation of the KOing Cancer among other health factors, Barnett jumped right into commitment of the event.

“Machine Gun” Shelly was a hit among the young fighters of life, young children combating cancer, organ transplants, and more.

Shelly Barnett:
I and my team were very honored to take part in an event to try and inspire young children that are going through bigger battles then I can imagine! It was also an honor to have my own daughter exposed to doing the right things by trying to help others and having the most fun we can with our blessings. The highlight of my night was to see the beautiful genuine smile on the young girl I was speaking with although just finishing her round of chemo. I really like what the Ronald McDonald House does and I could see by the same young girl having her brothers to be around and keep her company through her treatment brings her life.”

Seeing Barnett hold her hand out to teach a 2 year old heart transplant recipient how to throw a punch was amazing. The smile on his mother’s, his sister’, and his own face was beyond inspirational. He was so full of life and nothing is going to slow this lil champion down.

#Never Give Up! Dreams Do Come True!”

The Champ also handed out autographed profile pictures to all in attendance so they can follow her career.

The smiles and thriving attention from the young warriors to the athletes and their teams was amazing. It was obvious that we were all among the true fighters that night!

Taking time out of our busy days to speak to those needing smiles and motivation is the least we could do. There is nothing better than talking to young warriors and their families with battles larger than anything we deal with on a daily basis.

Other boxers in attendance were unbeaten local favorite Mike “Fly” Garcia, Chicago Golden Gloves Champions: Matos, Samantha Guzman, and Kathleen Jones and her daughter/sparring partner Brianna Jones. Judo athletes, and Miss Illinois were also there to meet the families well.
