Is Brækhus turning her back on the IBF and their mandatory opponent requirement? And why is the IBF taking action like they did with GGG?

Days ago, IBF stripped Gennady Golovkin for his Middleweight Championship after failing to agree to face mandatory challenger Sergiy Derevyanchenko as the IBF had stipulated. The IBF allowed Golovkin to fight Vanes Martirosyan on May 5th with the understanding that he has to face Derevyanchenko next.

In late 2017, IBF made Layla McCarter the mandatory opponent to Pound 4 Pound and undisputed Welterweight Queen Cecilia Brækhus.

On the same show as GGG vs. Martirosyan, Brækhus faced Kali Reis with the IBF title on the line along with the rest of her stronghold of belts.

With no significant attempts to make the mantary matchup with McCarter, is Brækhus turning her back on their requirement?

Is the IBF putting the blinders on and looking sway from their statement, allowing Brækhus to do business as she pleases like Floyd Mayweather, Jr. was able to do as WBC Champion? #BoxingPolitics at it’s finest!

As May 5th show at the StubHub Center has shown us, Brækhus is not untouchable and the always respectful Reis may have just exposed the First Lady may no longer be the unbeatable force.

Reis put Brækhus to the canvas that night, nearly put her down a second time in a match that nearly wasn’t due to the P4P queen’s control issues.

It was apparent, by Brækhus’ post fight interview that there are internal issues within her camp.

Our guy, Wood from Pay Me No Mind (PMNM), discussed the drama from May 5th with Reis on his recent podcast, found here.

Highly ranked Welterweight, Layla McCarter, has been at the top of her game for a very long time, having won her first world title in 2000. She is already considered a legend of the sport.

But where is McCarter’s promoter, Mayweather Promotions, is this process and negotiations? As a top promoter, why are they not making huge efforts to get this matchup made?

If Brækhus cannot handle business, then actions need to be taken.

Wake up IBF!

McCarter vs. Reis for the freshly vacated IBF Welterweight Championship has a good ring to it.
