Jackie Nava tees up for ten to reach elevenses with “Barby”

At the still very spritely 38 years of age, Jackie Nava wants a fanfare triumph coronation, to crown a highly successful boxing career.

Between 2015 and 2017, the “Princess Azteca” fought only two fights. She wants to double that up this year, and will be fighting this Saturday against Alys Sanchez. Then a barn stormer in October, against Mariana Juarez, if both win this weekend.

Jackie Nava (33-4-3, 14 ko’s) fights Venezuelan Alys “China” Sanchez in a much vaunted rematch (15-4-1, 4 ko’s) this Saturday, at the Mexico City Arena, on a card presented by Zanfer and Promociones del Pueblo and it will be transmitted by Televisa and TV Azteca.

Also that self same night , Mariana “Barby” Juarez (49-9-4, 18 ko’s) will defend her WBC bantamweight crown for the fifth time against Japan’s Terumi Nuki (10-3-0, 7 ko’s).

The aim is for “Princess Azteca” and the “Barby” to win, earning themselves one of the most attractive fights that Mexican women’s boxing can offer, and one of the most important worldwide.

Nava has really put herself through it with altitude training at Jiquipilco, State of Mexico during the past five weeks, stressing: “We are already at weight, without any problem, thanks to the great work we did with my work team, I am very keen to get into the ring at the Mexico City Arena.” A former world champion at bantamweight and super bantamweight, the Tijuana fighter with 17 years of experience in professional boxing, seeks her tenth consecutive victory since 2011.
