Defending her GBU and WIBF Super Featherweight Championships on Sunday on Siesta Boxing Promotions’ “Battle of Bracknell”, the Greek-born Kallia Kourouni (9-2, 1 KO) looked to make a positive statement after a subpar showing a couple months prior.

UK’s Kristine Shergold (6-6, 1 KO) had other plans in mind and is seeming totally rejuvenated since returning to action this year after 6 years away.

Shergold pressured the champion from the opening bell, ripping depleting combinations to the head and body.

Kourouni Delivered her fair share of scoring shots, but not to neutralize Shergold’s persistence.

BBB of C Stipulations of one judge scoring gives the championship win to Shergold over “Pink Tyson” Kourouni.

Shergold stated to #WomenofBoxing, “I don’t feel like I boxed to my best at all but only 2nd fight back in 6 year lay off so just glad I got the win.”

2018 has been Shergold’s year, after starting it off with her return to action bout that saw her hand raised for the first time since 2010, a points win over Bec Connolly in April. Now this… the NEW WIBF and GBU Super Featherweight Champion!
