Future Hall of Famer Layla McCarter (41-12-5, 11 KOs) added two more trophies to her collection, as she pressured and battered New Mexico’s Victoria Cisneros (13-20-2, 6 KOs) into submission to collect the GBU and WIBF Interim Welterweight Championship belts on Saturday night at the Skye Ute Casino in Ignacio, CO.

McCarter came out pressuring Cisneros hard, moving the multi-championship challenger backwards consistently as the champ unloaded with both left and right upstairs and to the body.

At 38 years old, “Amazing” McCarter still moves like a young boxing, slipping and avoiding the attacks while coming right back in for rapid counters.

Into the eighth Round, McCarter smelled blood and pounced on Cisneros. Relentless jarring rights to the head prompted the referee to intervene and stop the brutal onslaught.

Official Time of the Championship Stoppage: 1:50 of Round 8 made McCarter an 8 time champion in now a 5th weight division.

With Cecilia Brækhus off chasing Cyborg instead of facing her mandatory opponent, what’s next for McCarter?

One option is to face the full GBU and WIBF Champion Verena Kaiser of Germany, as the sanctioning bodies made McCarter/Cisneros the eliminator to the full champion.
