At the Montreal Casino, in Montreal, Quebec on Friday, GYM Promotions’ champion Marie Eve Dicaire (16-0) made her second successful defense of her IBF Super Welterweight Championship.

For the second time within the last three months, Dicaire was back in the ring with veteran former world champions. This time, it was Sweden’s Maria Lindberg (17-5-2, 9 KOs), ranked #2 by the IBF.

The 42 year old former champion was unable to keep up with the youthful southpaw Dicaire as the current IBF champ was too mobile and popped her point gathering shots at will to move forward with a Unanimous Decision victory.

The relentless Lindberg kept up the chase throughout the 10 rounds of action, but could not connect enough and inflict equalizing clean punches.

Official Scores: 98-92, 99-91, 99-91

Highlights:

The win sets up the potential for GYM Promotions to work a unification bout with DiBella and his Costa Rican WBA and WBO champion Hanna Gabriels or maybe WBC Champion Ewa Piatkowska from Poland.
