Gary, Indiana will witness live the champion in the making when “Merciless” Mary McGee (24-3, 13 KOs) steps inside the ropes on Saturday at McBride Hall that she is ready to contend for a major championship belt when she takes on Hungary’s championship title-chaser Szilvia Szabados (18-14, 9 KO).

McGee vs. Szabados will be a 6 Round bout presented by Derrick Findley’s DM Fight Promotions.

Mary McGee is lining herself up for shot at a title at Lightweight or Super Lightweight, after re-kickstarting her career after signing with the very active Team Empire Management group.

McGee disposed of Latasha Burton with a 3rd Round KO in October and has stayed busy in the gym awaiting the call.

Inching closer to the shot at gold, she needed a contender to face for the sanctioning bodies to seriously take notice.

Over the last few years, Szabados has faced handfuls of top names in the game – Kali Reis, Alicia Napoleon, Mikaela Lauren, Layla McCarter, Claressa Shields, Aleksandra Magdziak-Lopes, Nikki Adler in addition to prospects like Raquel Miller and Logan Holler.

Brian Cohen, Team Empire Management:
“I am happy to have Mary Mcgee on Team Empire. She is just coming back after a long way off but we have big plans in the works for her. I have been a big fan of Mary’s for a while and the first opportunity I had to sign her I did.”

“We will be hunting down some of the “champions” at 140 and 135. I’m not afraid to Mary in there with any of them. I believe she will not only compete she will dethrone them.”

“After this fight we will have a big announcement that will have everyone talking about Mary McGee.”
