Top Rank’s Super Featherweight contender Mikaela Mayer steps much closer to a world title shot on Saturday night at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nevada.

Mayer (12-0, 5 KOs) successfully defended her NABF Super Featherweight Champion in a clear domination over Alejandra Zamora (7-4, 1 KO) of Argentina.

The champ overpowered the visiting Zamora early on, pounding Zamora to the canvas in the 1st Round.

Constant pressure and technical shots to the head and body doomed Zamora as her corner insisted on stopping the fight after the 6th Round.

Official time of the stoppage: 2:00 of the 6th Round.

Mayer stated, “Next is hopefully a world title shot.” Hinting at challenging WBC Champion Eva Wahlstrom (22-1-2, 3 KOs), of Finland, “Hopefully, we can get it down on paper and have it happen in early 2020.”, she added.
