From WBF:

Da Costa Facing Tanzanian-Challenge In WBF World Title-Defense
By: Clive Baum

poster-france-26-11-16Two-weight World Boxing Federation (WBF) Womens World Champion Anne Sophie Da Costa will defend her WBF Light Flyweight world title against Tanzanian challenger Fatuma Yazidu on Saturday November 26 at the Gymnase Luis Ortiz in Saint-Dizier, France.

Da Costa, 21-2 (9), from the Champagne-producing city of Reims, first became world champion in 2012 when she captured the WBF Strawweight crown, but lost the title two years later by split decision to Mexican Susana Cruz Perez.

She then moved up in weight, and won the Light Flyweight title last November, knocking out Rungnapa Keawkrachang from Thailand in five rounds.

In her most recent outing, this past May, she successfully defended against tough Uruguayan challenger Soledad Macedo, scoring a clear unanimous decision.

Now Da Costa (34) is hoping to finish the year with another impressive performance against Yazidu, who at twenty-five is nine years her junior and brings a different style than she has ever faced before.

This will be the first shot at a world title for Yazidu, who travels to France with a record of 11-2 (4). Having had plenty of time to prepare for this big opportunity, she is reportedly in great shape and focused on becoming her country’s first ever female world champion.
