From WBC:

Diamond from Flint

The undisputed female middleweight champion Claressa Shields seeks a flawless performance this Saturday, October 5 on a card that will be broadcast live on SHOWTIME.

Shields will seek to win the WBC Diamond belt against former world champion Ivana Habazin at the Dort Federal Event Center in Flint, Michigan.

The fight was initially scheduled for August 17 and was postponed in June after Shields suffered a minor right knee injury while training.

Shields (9-0, 2 KOs), 24, is a two-division champion who became undisputed middleweight with a victory over Christina Hammer last April. With this triumph she joined Katie Taylor, Terrence Crawford, Jermain Taylor, Bernard Hopkins, Oleksandr Usyk and Cecilia Braekhus as the only fighters who have unified the four most important world titles in world boxing.

“I am more excited than ever. I’m 100 percent recovered and I can’t wait to go back to the ring and fight in front of my hometown fans in Flint as the undisputed world champion, ”said Shields.

Habazin (20-3, 7 KOs), from Zagreb, Croatia, will make her debut in the United States. She lost a unanimous decision against Cecilia Braekhus in an entertaining fight.

“It is an honor and a dream to fight in the United States on national television. Many fighters never have this opportunity in their careers, so I know I need to make the most of it. I have been training for this fight since June and the postponement has only given me more time to prepare, ”Habazin said.

Shields vs. Habazin is promoted by Salita Promotions. Tickets for the live event are on sale at Ticketmaster.com and at the Dort Center box office.
