Chicago’s Undefeated Super Flyweight “Machine Gun” Shelly Barnett (3-0) is back in action, looking for her 4th victory to start her 11 month old career. This will be her second trip back up north to her hometown of Toronto to put on for her city, family, and friends.
It was only late May of last year that Barnett chose the professional ranks and has not looked back, staying busy with matches back home and her new hometown of Chicago.
On Friday, Barnett takes another step up in opponent caliber when she faces a somewhat unknown Guadalupe Rodriguez (3-1) of Mexico on Lee Baxter Promotions show at The Danforth Music Hall in Toronto, Ontario.
Rodriguez has not faced an opponent below .500 win percentage so this will a true test for Barnett.
Following many female boxers of today, Barnett trains to hone her skills to become the best versus training for opponent styles.
We met up with Barnett as she wrapped up camp to head north for Friday’s clash. She is excited to return home to see family and friends as well as collect that 4th victory.
