Puerto Rico’s Brooklyn transplant Amanda Serrano (37-1-1, 27 KOs) proved her nickname of “Real Deal” by dealing Heather Hardy her first defeat in her professional boxing career to reclaim the WBO Featherweight World Championship that she owned back in early 2016. Serrano also took ownership of the interim WBC World Championship in Friday’s Co-Main Event at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater.

“The Heat” Hardy looked like the flame was just a spark that was extinguished in the opening round, as Serrano overwhelmed the champ as she normally starts each bout.

Serrano’s out fired Hardy in the first 2 minutes, as the referee started watching Hardy closely, looking after her safety and a possible early stoppage.

The southpaw Serrano overpowered and outworked her former sparring partner and friend through the opening stanza and into the first few rounds before Hardy found to keep the distance and make it a match.

Nonetheless, Serrano’s experience was too much to overcome, pushing the bout the full yet unmatched 10 Rounds.

Official Scores: 98-91, 98-91, 98-92

Of course, we are looking at Serrano vs. Taylor in the near future. Eddie Hearn signed Serrano to a multi-fight contract to lead into this matchup.

In the Post-Fight interview, Serrano stated, “No matter where it’s at, what weight… I am gonna win” in regards to the assumed mega-match with Katie Taylor.

With also claiming the WBC strap, this could spawn another fan-desired matchup with her natural weight… with the all-in WBC Champion Jelena Mrdjenovich.

The remainder of 2019 and 2020 are shaping up glorioudly!
