Undefeated GBU and WIBF Welterweight Champion Verena “The Empress” Kaiser (10-0, 5 KOs) has two world titles at the young age of 25 with major aspirations of facing the best and being victorious.

On Saturday, Kaiser makes that next step in her championship journey with a tough and very experienced Mikaela Lauren (29-5, 13 KOs) of Sweden for the vacant IBO Super Welterweight Championship on Sauerland Promotion show at Gaerdehov Ice Hockey Arena in Sundvall, Sweden.

We had a chance to discuss the Saturday matchup with “The Empress”.

How was camp?
Not as usual. This time I could add much more technical aspects to my boxing style. I´m always adjusting my style and I´m sure that the fans are going to see a quiet different Verena this time.

Who all helped you, with this camp?
Now I got a completely new team around me, management, trainer. Furthermore the people of the German university of sports helped me after the switch. I also had very good sparring partners like Christina Hammer, Femke Hermans and many more.

How does this camp differ from previous camps?
In this camp the focus wasn’t only on strength and endurance. I have learned to box much more intelligent and economic since the last five months.

By far, Saturday’s championship clash with Mikaela Lauren has to be the most prolific of your young career. How are you feeling? How are you dealing with the anticipation and stress?
Stress? I don’t feel stress. I‘ve been waiting for fights like this long enough. Since I turned professional it was always my intention to face opponents on increasing level, enjoying challenges and hopefully win them until reaching the top.

Lauren has a tendency of intimidating her opponents, from squirting water, using big repellent, or kissing her opponent. Are you prepared for her antics?
Yes of course. However it doesn’t influence the fight or my feeling anyway. I am simply interested in good boxing. I love the sport and don‘t need the ballyhoo around it. But I‘m pretty sure it could be kind of fun. Whatever she‘ll do, I‘m going to have the right answers.

What shall we expect from “The Empress” Kaiser on Saturday?
You shall expect that I wanna get this victory. And you will feel it during the whole fight, that’s my style. I have an amazing will to reach my goals that even surprises myself every time. I step in this ring and victory is the only option in my mind. Likely watched some people tell me.

Who is part of Team Kaiser?
My manager is David Boskovic from Boskovic Boxing. My maincoach is veteran Walter Knieps, Co-Coach Thomas Knieps from Boxsportclub Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler.

Obviously championships are the main career goal. What else do you hope to accomplish over your career?
There are 5 most important sanctioning bodies in boxing where you can become world champion, and if the sport is organized like this, of course my goal is to unify the belts. But to me it counts more to fight good opponents at a good level.

Of all sports, why boxing?
I am very various and there are plenty of sports I am more or less good at. I started with a leisure structured track and field in 400m and also 800m distance. When I discovered boxing it catched my interest and felt fixing better. The movement in the ring takes a lot cleverness and for boxing you really need multiple skills. Differing to running it is like a 3D-puzzle that has to be solved.

Who are your boxing or non-boxing idols and why?
My brother is somebody who inspired me. He has a handicaped arm, nevertheless nobody ever could told him that there’s anything in life he can not do. As well as several strong personalities I met, who e.g. deal with difficult circumstances or set clear goals they struggle for consequently. And also good music and art. Related to boxing, I was always impressed by Mike Tyson. His agility, strength and explosivity where really nice to watch. Of course there are many great female boxers, for example Cecilia Braekhus. I really like her and her image. I am also inspired by Regina Halmich. She started in my former home gym. In the most situations I love beeing inspiring by myself to other people as a coach. To support them in reaching their health and body goals, give perspectives and show them the way. It’s like a profession.

How can fans follow you and your career?
On Facebook and Instagram. And from now on, LIVE ON TV! 😉

Any words for fans, sponsors, supports?
Yes, I’d like to thank my manager David Boskovic and my maincoach Walter Knieps and Thomas Knieps. Also thanks to my sponsor DFS (Dach Fassaden Systeme GmbH) in my hometown Karlsruhe, Paffen Sport Boxing and Sparkasse. Only with strong sponsors a professional career possible. Special thanks to my family and friends who support me always. And last but not least thanks to the German University Of Sports Cologne, that accepts and supports this dual career what is great and nessesary.

Thank you and good luck on Saturday, Champ!
