Zarika vs. Mercado II poised
Tomorrow night, the female super bantam champion of the World Boxing Council, Fatuma Zarika, fights Mexican Yamileth Mercado, at the Poliforum of Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua.
Last year Yamileth traveled to Kenya to face Zarika, who won a close victory that night. Now the champion will defend her crown on the challenger’s home turf.
The winner of this fight must face Zambian boxer Catherine Phiri.
This Friday both fighters weighed in. Champion Zarika registered 119.4 pounds; while Mercado was 121.6 pounds.
