From WBC:

Zarika Very confident of exploiting defects

World Boxing Council super-bantamweight champion, Fatuma Zarika from Kenya, is very confident of defeating Mexico’s Yamileth Mercado when they meet next September 8 in Nairobi.

Zarika (30-12-2, 17 kos) aged thirty four is applying the finishing touches to a very thorough preparation.

“I am grateful to everyone who believes in me. I promise to give everything, to defend my crown “commented the world champion.

Zarika has not been in the ring since December, when she defeated Zambian Catherine Phiri by unanimous decision and defended her WBC super bantamweight title at the Carnivore Grounds in Nairobi.

Fatuma does not know much about her opponent Yamileth Mercado (13-1, 4 kos), who’s fourteen years younger. So she’s been studying some videos of the Mexican boxer’s fighting style.

¨Mercado is a good fighter. But I have seen many defects in her boxing and with those opportunities we will be working in the gym to come out with the victory on September 8 in front my people ¨ the world champion commented.
