Dina Thorslund Outpoints Alicia Ashley to Claim the WBC Interim Championship

THORSLUND CROWNED WBC INTERIM CHAMPION

Dane seeking fame Dina Thorslund won the World Boxing Council interim super bantameight title against veteran Jamaican fighter, Alicia Ashley, in the “Battle Of The Ages,” event at the Arena Struer in Denmark .

After 10 rounds of intense action, Thorslund prevailed with scorecards of 96-94, 96-94 and 97-92. A slow start cost southpaw Ashley the first four rounds. Inspired by her corner she then did appreciably and precisely better against a brawling Thorslund. But there remained too much ground to make up against the eager energetic kid, who’s young enough to be her daughter.

With this victory, Thorslund improves her record to 11-0, with 6 knockouts. Ashley left with record in 24-12-1, 4 knockouts.
