In her 10th defense of her WBA Minimumweight Championship, Anabel “Avispa (Wasp)” Ortiz (28-3, 4 KOs) handed Venezuelan Yenifer Leon (9-1, 6 KOs) her first professional defeat in the Main Event of Zanfer Promotions show at Club Britania, in Chihuahua, Mexico on Saturday evening.

The Venezuelan challenger came in aggressive, pressing hard with her knockout power history. But, she only managed to inflict a cut on Ortiz’s left brow due to a clash of heads in the 7th Round.

Ortiz kept popping to the head and body from distance. When Leon went to clinch, she felt the pain as the champ delivered relentless and point gathering body work.

Ortiz, who has not lost since May of 2012, pushed through and dominated much of the 10 Rounds of action in the Minimumweight Division clash.

Official Scores: 99-91, 98-92, 99-93
