From MTK Global:

MATHIE MOVING METHODICALLY TOWARDS BIG-TIME

The undefeated Avril Mathie heads into Saturday’s showdown with Delaney Owen determined to plot a clinical path to the top of women’s boxing.

The Sydney-born former Miss Swimsuit USA International fought to a brutal draw with Samantha Salazar with the ABF Continental Americas bantamweight title on the line last time out and is ready to put the lessons of that gruelling encounter to use.

Mathie said: “I learned a lot from my last fight. I went up against an opponent who had far more experience than me.

“It was officially called a draw. I thought I did enough but clearly not. From now on, I will make things even more clear and won’t leave any questions in the judges’ minds.

“I’ve been working on a lot of things behind the scenes. My last fight was back in October so I’ve been training for the best part of three or four months.

“At this stage of my career, I’m just set on building my experience and making each opponent a little harder than the last and be as entertaining as I can be for the fans. Opportunities will open up from that when I’m ready.”

Mathie, who fights at the University of South Florida in Tampa on Saturday, turned professional in early 2018 and blasted both her first two opponents out in the first round.
