On Friday evening at the Auditorio Municipal Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno in Tijuana, Mexico, the interim WBC Atomweight Championship belt stays within the tight grasp of Brenda Flores (16-4-1, 4 KOs) after she disposed of challenger Mayerli Altamoar (13-3-2, 7 KOs) of Colombia in the 3rd Round.

Flores obtained the championship belt in a Southern California spoiler decision win over favorite Louisa Hawton in September.

This is Fores’ fifth victory in a row, since dropping a decision to countrywoman Silvia Torres for the WBA Light Flyweight strap in 2017.

A rematch between Flores and Hawton was due to occur in December but an illness forced Flores out of competition. Look for that rematch to happen soon.
