WBC Lightweight Champion Delfine Persoon (42-1, 17 KOs) of Belgium dished out her first knockout in three and a half years on Saturday as well as successfully defended her belt for the 8th time.

On home turf in Belgium, Persoon stopped multi-championship challenger Judy Waguthii (16-9-4, 4 KOs) of Kenya. The match was stopped in the 10th Round after the challenger was taking heavy heat from the champion. Persoon had already put Waguthii to her knees in the 9th with a profound combination in the corner.

This was a rematch from their 2014 bout, where Persoon handled Waguthii easily with an 8 Round shutout Unanimous Decision triumph.

Waguthii won the WBC Silber Super Lightweight Championship in her last bout, a Unanimous Decision victory over German Prisca Vicot.

With this emphatic TKO10 win, talks have already begun for a potential matchup with Katie Taylor, which is part of Taylor and her promoter Matchroom Boxing’s plan for the near future.
