Both Olivia Gerula (18-18-2, 3 KOs) of Canada and Elena Gradinar (9-0, 2 KOs) of Russia were showing effects of early round accidental head-clashes but persisted to slug it out for 10 IBF Inter-Continental Championship Rounds on Saturday in Estonia.

In a real workhorse type bout, the orthodox Gradinar kept switching stances as she stepped forward and delivered stifling lefts and rights on the head of Gerula.

Despite the bloody right brow of Gerula, she kept advancing and pressuring but many times stepping into the punches of Gradinar.

After 10 non-stop and bloody rounds of action, the judges saw it unanimous and one-sided for Gradinar. Her punches were crisper and in quantities unmatched by the injured Gerula.

Official Scores: 99-91, 98-92, 99-91

‘I am very happy with the win and my IBF belt,” said Gradinar, post-fight. “I want to fight Jennifer Han for the IBF world title. I want to do my part in lifting women’s boxing to the next level and fight the best.”

Dmitriy Salita says this is just the start of a terrific 2018 for Gradinar. “With the win Elena has cemented herself as one of the best female featherweights in the world. This is going to be a big year for Elena and women’s boxing.”
