From Lauren’s Facebook Page

Last week, the world was told that the “Nordic Queen” Mikaela Lauren’s (31-5, 13 KOs) Saturday matchup with Serbia Eva Bajic (14-12, 9 KOs) on Bulldog Media’s Fight Night at the Lindholmen Event in Gothenburg, Sweden was to be the last of her professional boxing career.

In an interview On Friday, Lauren cited that a possible bout with Swedish rival Klara Svensson could make her reconsider retirement. “This is my last match, unless Klara Svensson would give me a rematch… Otherwise, it’s time to thank and move on”

That exact scenario did not take long to presented itself.

Immediately following the reading of the official judges scores, the final ceremonial victory hand raising turned to public jawing as Svensson came ringside with a microphone and challenged the victor to a rematch.

In September of 2016, “Swedish Princess” Svensson defeated the “Nordic Queen” Lauren for the Interim WBC World Welterweight Championship and the right to face Unified Champion Cecilia Brækhus, a fight she ultimately lost.

Svensson has been outspoken about her desires to face Brækhus again and a matchup and victory over Lauren would prove the worthiness of the matchup so I kind of sensed that something like this could happen.

A win for either participant would most certainly create additional prestigious forthcoming opportunities and potentially delay the retirement further if Lauren prevails.
