From WBC:

Heartfelt ‘Barby’ visits children in hospital

World Boxing Council female bantamweight champion Mariana ‘Barby’ Juarez went to the Dr. Jose Haro Avila General Hospital in Fresnillo, Zacatecas to bring a message of encouragement to the patients there, in the countdown to her ninth title defense.

She`ll face Argentina’s Carolina Raquel Duer, in a duel of triple world champions, starring in a bumper Promociones del Pueblo event with the support of Playboy Mexico.

Dr. Jesús Magallanes Mijares, director of the General Hospital, was in charge of the memorable welcome. Mariana is known and admired as a champion who is always willing to contribute to different causes, especially when they involve children and young people. She explains: “For me it is not easy, my heart breaks from knowing that there are people going through such difficult times, especially children. Yet I`m also motivated to know that my problems and my worries are the minimum compared to what they are facing, also hearing words of encouragement from them is priceless.

“This motivates me, and I come to give them a little joy, but in the end the one that goes away with batteries recharged is me. I can’t stop feeling emotional when listening to each of their cases and I really try to help them with what is in my hands, I not only come to talk or take a picture with them, I intent to destine part of the profits from the sales of my products to them.”
