WBC Super Bantamweight Champion Fatuma Zarika Coming to Mexico for Rematch with Yamileth Mercado on November 9

Out of Africa aiming straight at Chihuahua! Zarika vs. Mercado rematch

On November 9th, WBC female super bantam world champion, Fatuma Zarika is coming all the way from Kenya to fight Mexican Yamileth Mercado at Poliforum of Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua.

Last year, Yamileth traveled to Kenya to face Zarika who won a split decision victory that night. So now, returning the compliment the champion comes to Mexican lands, absolutely determined to return home with the title. Defiantly, Mercado has ruled that this time the story will be very different.

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán, said that this is one of the most anticipated women’s fights of the year and that female boxing in general is stronger than ever. He also explained that the winner of this fight must face Zambian fighter Catherine Phiri.
