Yamileth retains WBC international crown

Yamileth “Yeimi” Mercado successfully retained the WBC International female super bantamweight champion with a unanimous decision over Karina “Bella” Fernández, at the Rodrigo M. Quevedo Gymnasium in Chihuahua, Chihuahua.

Mercado (14-2, 4 KOs) thoroughly dominated “Bella” Fernández (12-4-1, 3 KOs), to reap the scores of 97 -91, on all three cards.

This was the first defense of the belt that she conquered against Venezuelan Alys Sanchez, in February.

The champion declared: “Now we’re going for the WBC super bantamweight world title, in a rematch against Fatuma Zarika.”
