From WBC:

Yesenia Gómez retains WBC Crown

In the international Oasis Arena of Cancun, Quintana Roo, Yesenia ‘La Niña’ Gomez, successfully retained the WBC female light flyweight crown, defeating challenger Ana Victoria ‘Dinamita’ Polo, via a UD.

The champion showed significant technical improvement thanks to sage and knowledgeable Coach Rubén Lira. Her judgement of distance and her timing, with accurate left jabs and pinpoint long straight rights to the head, dominated shorter Ana Victoria, who despite her courage, was kept at bay, until the later rounds.

Gómez, who leaned into punches, rather than boxing on the retreat, as she previously had, drew on a wider variety of boxing resources. She won convincingly with scores of 98-92, 98-92 and 99-91, she’s now reached 16 wins as a professional fighter.
