Today at the Arena Santos in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Rose Volante (12-0, 6 KOs) will make her first defense of her WBO Lightweight Championship at home opposite Panama’s Lourdes Borbua (8-0, 4 KOs).

“The Queen” Volante captured the WBO belt in December by way of Majority Decision over Brenda Carabajal in Argentina.

For Borbua, the road to the WBO World Championship bout was paved with a WBC Latino Title win in June of 2017 with a strong decision win over Franyuli Riascos.

Unfortunately, Borbua did arrive in Brazil over the 135 lb maximum, so she is not eligible to win the WBO belt if she is victorious.

Official Weights:
Borbua – 142 lbs, 7 lbs over the limit
Volante – 135 lbs

The show is promoted by Ecumenical Necropolis Memorial
