Alrie Meleisea gets big win with rankings boost expected

Alrie Meleisea and Ashley Campbell make their Television debut last night at Eventfina Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand.

Alrie Melesiea and Ashley Campbell originally were booked on December 14th card for the vacant New Zealand title. However, an opportunity called when a fight got pulled on Shane Camerons show that was televised. Both camps agreed to take the fight in a Non-title fight to get that televised opportunity.

Alrie Meleisea came into the fight the heaviest of her career at 213¼ pounds and Ashley Campbell weighing in at her lightest at 209½ pounds.

Throughout the fight, Alrie Meleisea show tremendous speed and combinations. Ashley surprised her opponent landing some clean shots and winning a round or two. But Alrie Meleisea won at least 4 out of the 6 rounds. After the fight, Alrie said, “The ring is my happy place”.

After this win, Alrie shot up in the boxrec rankings from 8th to 6th and is expected to get an increase on the WBA Rankings that she is already ranked 3rd in. Alrie should be taking the rest of the year off before talks on what’s next.
