1954 Barbara "The Mighty Atom of the Ring" Buttrick suffered the only loss of her career, an 8 Round Unanimous Decision defeat at the hands of Jo Ann Hagen at Victoria Pavilion in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This was Buttrick's sole defeat in her 31 pro bouts and thousands of supposed exhibitions. The bout was the first women’s bout to be broadcast on the radio, aired throughout Canada.
