Saturday evening at CenterStage @ NoDa in Charlotte, North Carolina,we have a War of Unbeatens brewing on legendary boxer-turned promoter Christy Martin Promotions show.

Middleweights Bertha “The Cuban Princess” Aracil (4-0-1, 3 KOs) of New York will take on Logan Holler (8-0, 3 KO) in a 6-Round powerhouse slugfest.

I caught up with Aracil during her camp for Saturday’s matchup.

#WomenofBoxing: What’s happening in the life of Bertha Aracil?

Cuban Princess: As of right now what is currently going on in my life. I am a hard working single mother, taking care of my beautiful baby boy, and training hard trying to make something great out of my boxing career.

#WomenofBoxing: What is new with Team Cuban Princess?

Cuban Princess: I have been training and traveling back from New York to Chicago for training camp. Here at El Maestro Boxing gym in New York I get workout sessions in Cotto & Julio. Then I travel to Chicago/Elgin IL with my new Coach Doug Mango & team Mango Combat Sports for the main part of my camp.

#WomenofBoxing: How was camp?

Cuban Princess: Traveling to camp here in IL was amazing! I really enjoyed and felt welcomed here’s on Doug Mangos team. I changed up my diet to an all organic approach, and even added in supplements and recovered my body like I haven’t done in the past. It was a different feel out here in the Boondocks running in the snow and chasing down the Coyotes. Lol I really felt in touch with nature much different from the city life.

#WomenofBoxing: Care to talk about your former foe becoming your teammate?

Cuban Princess: I felt a deep connection with “Savage” Sarah Curran after our first fight. She was my first opponent I could fight and get along with after a fight. She and her team saw something special in my boxing skills and vice versa to them.

#WomenofBoxing: In your 5 years of professional boxing, you have stopped every opponent but your new teammate and sparring partner. Obviously that speaks volumes about your power. What shall we expect in February 23rd match?

Cuban Princess: I trained hard and switched things up for this camp. I didn’t change the fighter I am but Coach Mango helped correct and improve my skills. Not only did they help me inside the ring they also helped me outside the ring, to really focus and get ren energized. Living in the Bronx is not easy LOL

#WomenofBoxing: What do you know about your opponent, Logan Holler, and how prepared are you for this War of Unbeatens?

Cuban Princess: I know she’s training hard and coming prepared to fight period just as every other opponent should.

#WomenofBoxing: I have been in the gym a few times and witnessed your workouts and sparring sessions during this camp. You are looking damn fit and powerful. How is it feeling to be focused again on the bangin’ business?

Cuban Princess: I feel like my old self again, it feels fucking great! Besides that I miss my son while I’m away he motivates me to come strong and I’m coming to fight.

Sparring at Sam Colonna Boxing Gym in Chicago with Mary McGee, Cat Aiura, Sarah Curran

#WomenofBoxing: Do you have any last words for fans, sponsors, supporters?

Cuban Princess: I want to thank my fans for believing in me. My new team Mango Combat Sports for riding by my side and welcoming me. Thank you to the girls who sparred with with me Catharine Aiura & Mary McGee and Sam Colonna Boxing Gym for allowing us to spar there for a meeting point. Thank you Shelly Morgan for being a great conditioning coach and training me! Thank you Sarah Curran for opening your doors to me and welcoming me to your family & team, and new beginnings to our friendship. My coach Doug Mango for training me and help making me feel great about boxing again, and also opening a new friendship with him as well. Thank you Brian Norris for welcoming to the team as well! Thank you Sean Joynes for setting this fight up for me.

#WomenofBoxing: This bout is on Christy Martin Promotions show. How does it feel to be included on the show of legendary female boxer Christy Martin?

The Cuban Princess: Christy Martin is a true pioneer and legend for all of us boxers today. It is an honor to be included on her show and I am very appreciative of the opportunity.

I also caught up with teammate and former opponent, “Savage” Sarah Curran to discuss Aracil’s preparation.

#WomenofBoxing: How do you feel Aracil’s camp has gone?

Savage: Bertha is an extremely talented boxer. She will definitely be a world champion, she is by far one of the toughest sparring partners I’ve ever had. It was an honor to have her join the team and train with her. Not only is she a great team mate but an even better friend. I’m excited to be in her corner and watch her do her thing February 23rd.
